The Bowen Technique For Back Pain Relief, Arthritis, Migraines, Sports Related Injuries gives and allows muscles, tendons and ligaments the innate opportunity to stimulate the bodies healing mechanisms. The theory is that these rolling motions trigger impulses in the brain to stimulate healing, release blocked energy and improve blood flow and lymphatic drainage. The treatment originated in Australia in the Fifties. It was developed by Tomas Bowen (1916-1982), from Geelong, Victoria, after he observed a manipulator treating other colleagues with back pain. He then became curious and established his own technique realising how effective certain movements were in relieving pain. Now identified as a therapy for back pain relief.

Bowen Practitioner/Therapist Genovieve Feasey (qualified 2000-0ngoing) from Wycombe, Buckinghamshire and Kent, performs specific set of gentle rolling movements with her forefingers and thumbs on precise points on the body.
The Bowen Technique offering back pain relief, or for work or sports related injuries, is not a constant hands -on therapy like massage. it is distinguished and characterised on the gentle movements are interspersed with regular pauses when the practitioner the steps away, and waits a minute or two and may customary leave the room in that time. Genovieve states “this allow the body time to respond to what’s been done”. The amount of time a Practitioner/Therapist recommends between sessions and whether they leave the room during sessions will vary from patient to patient. Genovieve says “a session is tailored made to the person, and their injuries or disorders, not just from session to session, also from moment to moment”.
